Eugene Mahon after completing his undergraduate studies at Univerity College Dublin then moved to Montpellier to work under Dr. Mihai Barboiu whare he aquired his PhD in July 2009. His thesis work involved using gold glyconanoparticles and quartz crystal microbalance to invesigate the lectin-carbohydrate interaction as well as work on synthetic ion channels based on polyoxomolydate nanocapsules. He is currently working at the Centre for Bionano Interactions at UCD, Dublin under Pr. Kenneth Dawson on biofunctionalisation of nanoparticles for biological targetting and fluorescent and magnetic nanoparticle synthesis.
