Mihail M. Dumitrescu, Tampere Univ. of Technology, Finland
Dr. Mihail M. Dumitrescu received the M.Sc. degree and the Ph.D. (in Optoelectronics) from the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest (PUB) in 1983 and 1996, respectively. From 1983 to 1996 he was teaching at the Electronics and Telecommunications Faculty of PUB, where he pioneered the "Optoelectronic Devices Modeling" course. He has been a Senior Researcher with the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) Tampere University of Technology, since the founding of ORC in 1999 and has become a Docent in Optoelectronics in 2002. Between 2001 and 2002 he was Chief Scientist and Director of the Finnish subsidiary of MEMSCAP SA, France. He is currently Adjunct Professor with the Optoelectronics Research Centre, Tampere, Finland.
During his activity in ORC, Dr. Dumitrescu was involved in 18 (Finnish) national research projects and 10 international research projects. He is currently coordinating the EU FP7 "DeLight" STREP (2008-2011), the European Space Agency "Development of Extremely Narrow-Band Semiconductor Distributed Feedback Laser Technology" project (2008-2009) and the Finnish Academy DAUNTLESS project (2008-2011). He is author of more than 150 international scientific publications and has an extensive teaching experience (having taught 11 different courses, supervised 38 MSc theses and (co-)supervised 4 PhD theses).
