FINAL results

Results:

  • New sensors based on SnO2 and metal decorated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and on combinations of SnO2-TiO2, ZnO, NiO, NiO/Al2O3 have been developed for the detection of benzene and formaldehyde respectively
  • New materials were characterised with selection being done based on sensor sensitivity
  • Sensitive materials (CuO and CoO films) with detection properties of volatile organic compounds (formaldehyde and benzene) were tested by depositing them on alumina transducers with different thicknesses
  • Technology for MOX microsensors, for the detection of volatile organic compounds, (VOC) was obtained
  • a Smart portable system to be used in houses or working environment was provided. The measurement data can be received and read with the help of an application developed on the phone through a bluetooth connection.

Other project related results:

  • Knowledge transfer between the Romanian and Hungarian partners involved in the project has occurred, with the existing project promoting the conception of new project proposals for European projects in sensing adjacent fields
  • High sensitivity VOC sensors are now available for studies which measure the effect on household air pollution on the human health
  • Nine (9) papers have been published in ISI journals on topics related to the project
  • Members of the consortium have held presentations on the subject of the project in eleven (11) conferences
  • Two (2) doctoral theses related to this project have been submitted.
