Dr. Xavier Jordà
Xavier Jordà obtained the Bsc degree in Physics at UAB in 1990 and the PhD degree at INSA - Lyon (France) in 1995. There, he joined the CEGELY-ECPA lab (nowadays Ampere Lab) on vector control of three-phase induction motors, pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques and the design and realization of power inverters for electric vehicles. In 1995 he joined the Power Devices and Systems (PDS) Group of IMB-CNM (CSIC) (Barcelona, Spain), obtaining a permanent position as Tenured Scientist in 2005, and a Scientific Researcher position in 2021. Thanks to the experience acquired in France, he led the creation of a new research line on Power Systems Integration, nowadays involving 3 senior researchers, 1 post-doc, 4 PhDs and 4 engineers. Since 2000, he is the responsible of the power devices characterization lab of IMB-CNM, from 2012 to 2021 he was the head of the PDS Group and since 2021 is Deputy Director of IMB-CNM. He co-authored 105 journal articles, more than 120 international conference contributions, 13 patents (3 of them under exploitation) and has supervised 5 PhD thesis (2 more are ongoing). He has participated in 24 national projects (leading 8 of them), 19 European projects (leading 3 of them at IMB-CNM, ATHIS, POWERBASE and SCAPE) and 41 industrial contracts (leading 31 of them). Dr. Jordà current research activity focuses on power packaging techniques for high temperature and smart power systems integration, thermal management, modeling and characterization of power devices and systems.
