Plamonic and dielectric metasurfaces as platforms for fluorescence enhancement
Demonstration experimental project
Project duration: 10.08.2020- 10.08.2022
Project budget: 600.000 RON
Main domain: Eco-nano-technologies and advanced materials
Objectives
The project outcome is the fabrication of plasmonic and dielectric metasurfaces specifically designed for fluorescent emission enhancement in VIS and NIR, and is a result of accomplishing several specific objectives going from design to fabrications, and functional characterization:
O1. Design optimization of nano-antennas array for FLEN: a complex objective encompassing design and modelling activities using specific numerical algorithms and dedicated software resulting in optimized geometric and material parameters to obtain resonance modes corresponding both to the fluorescence absorption and emission spectra of the fluorophores.
O2. Technological parameters optimization in order to fabricate plasmonic metasurface and dielectric metasurfaces engineered for FLEN: nanofabrication using electron beam lithography (EBL) and deep UV lithography.
O3. Experimental model - realization and testing: aims to combine the first two objectives in order to fabricate the optimized design and to investigate the fluorescent emission. Final measurements of the FLEN will validate the rate of enhancement using nano-patterned structures.
O4. Design of optimized structures for biosensing applications and experiments: Based on results obtained in the first steps, and on the expertise of the industrial partner in biosensing applications, the optimum incorporation of the sensing layers and the fluorescence in metasurfaces-based device will be identified, and experimented
