At the heart of this system is the CornerstoneTM 260 ¼ Monochromator with three gratings (200-1400, 450-1400, 600-2500 nm) connected by a mounting kit with a NEWPORT 300 W Xe Research Source, providing the broadband light sourse from which a certain wavelength is selected at the two exit slits of the monochromator. An Optical Power/Energy Meter (NEWPORT 1918-C) together with a calibrated UV Enhanced Silicon Photodetector (NEWPORT 918D-UV-OD3) will be used for measuring the output light of the monochromator. A solarization resistent fiber cable can be connected at one of the monochromator exit slit for measuring micrometer scale photodetectors. The measurements are based on the loch-in technique using the Stanford Research SR830 Lock-In Amplifier and SR540 Optical Chopper. The monochromator and lock-in amplifier are controled through a RS232 interface using an in-house developed software package.
- Cryostat (SHI-4H-1 from Janis Research company, LCC) able to perform measurements in the 5-500K temperature range

      Modelling and simulation

    IE3D

Mentor Graphics IE3D software package is a full wave, Method-of-Moments simulator and performs electromagnetic analysis for arbitrary 3-D planar geometry. The electromagnetic analysis includes dispersion, discontinuities, surface waves, higher order modes, conductor loss, dielectric loss and radiation loss. The IE3D software package is based on open boundary Green’s functions formulation and includes an optimization engine that allows the using of multiple objective functions

      CST Studio Suite

CST Studio Suite is an electromagnetic simulation software that comprise tools for design and optimization of devices operating in a wide range of frequencies – static to optical. Analyses may include thermal and mechanical effects, as well as circuit simulation. CST Microwave Studio module is a tool for the fast and accurate 3D simulation of high frequency devices. It enables the fast and accurate analysis of antennas, filters, couplers, planar and multi-layer structures
