Team

Dr. Ciprian Iliescu

Dr. Ciprian Iliescu's expertise is in microfluidics, microtechnology, bioengineering and biophysics. More than 17 years ago, he started his work in the field of microfluidics with the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology - as one of its "founders" and contributed also to the technical infrastructure of the institute. In 2017, Dr. Iliescu joined prof Luke Lee's team (currently Harvard Medical School) and contributed to the setup of Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology @ National University of Singapore. He continued his work in the field of "lab-on-a-chip" systems. In 2010, he set-up the "Micro-Nanofluidic Lab" at IMT Bucharest as its "Scientific director" (2010-2014). He re-joined IMT Bucharest in 2019 and, currently, he is leading the project "Advanced techniques and increasing performance in the early detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus". His contributions to the field of microfluidics cover a large area from set-up of fabrication technologies to devices. Five of the PI's research directions will be presented here.
